On the night of 30th March 1851 Emily (35) was living with her husband William (41) and their children: Emily Eliza (12), scholar; Alfred William (8), scholar; Ernest Lionel (4), scholar; and Francis Colin (1). All the children were shown as being born born in St. Pancras.

On the night of 7th April 1861 Emily Carpenter (43) was working as a servant in the household of W. Adamthwaite (63), a landed proprietor. W. Adamthwaite lived in the property with his wife Isabella (41) and daughter Mary (5). Richard Shaw (29), a veterinary surgeon, was also lodging at this address. Emily was the only servant listed.
William Carpenter died in 1863.
