Son of Edward Wood and Sarah Wood (née Warner)

 

Thomas was baptised on 31 October 1802 in Cranley[1], Surrey[2].

 

Thomas married Harriet Knight on 31 October 1825 at St Pancras Old Church[3].

 

1841: Norton Street, Marylebone – Iron Founder[4]

On the night of 6th June 1841 Thomas (35) was living with his wife Harriett (33) and their two children: Harriett Junior (12) and Richard (7). The property was home to at least five families and 18 individuals.

 

1851: 10 Oxford Street, St Pancras – Iron Founder[5]

Thomas (49) is living with his wife, Harriet (47), and their children: Richard (17), an iron founder; Harriet (22); and Mary (6). The address places the family in Agar Town which was a notorious slum. 1861: 7 Oxford Street, St Pancras – Iron Founder Moulder[6]

On the night of 7th April 1861 Thomas[7] (58) was living with his wife, Harriett[8] (56); son Richard[9] (27), an iron founder moulder; widowed daughter Harriet Finch[10] (33), a laundress; daughter Mary[11] (16), a milliner; daughter in law Elizabeth Wood[12] (25), wife of Richard Wood; granddaughters Eliza Louisa Finch[13] (1), Ellen Harriet Wood[14] (4) and Elizabeth Ann Wood[15] (11); and three lodgers.

 

1871: 3 Little Bath Street, Clerkenwell – Grocer[16]

Thomas is living with his wife and granddaughter, Louisa French.

 

Thomas Wood died 14 November 1876, aged 74 years. Interred at Finchley Cemetery.
