Born on 12th August 1781[1].

 

Married James Carpenter on 25th January 1803 at St George the Martyr, Queen Square, Holborn. James died on 14th June 1819[2].

 

Married again to Samuel Hudd on 6th February 1825 at St George the Martyr, Queen Square, Holborn[3].

 

Went to Guy's Hospital on 18th August 1830. Operation performed on 24th August 1830. Died 4th September 1830[4].

 

Buried on 12th September 1830 at Christ Church[5], Blackfriars Road, Southwark, Surrey[6]. The register of graves gives the ground no/grave letter as Plan B[7] - Plot 4S[8].

  3. Carpenter Family Record Book. The parish register shows that Samuel Hudd (bachelor) signed the register with a mark whilst Sarah Carpenter (widow) signed with a signature. The witnesses to the marriage were William Neal and Tho[ma]s Putney.
  4. Carpenter Family Record Book. The admissions register for Guy's Hospital is held at London Metropolitan Archives and Sarah Hudd is named on the list of patients admitted to Charity Ward on 18th August 1830. The page is headed with the names of Dr Cholemeley and Mr Key.
  5. Christchurch was bombed during 1941 and the building that Sarah would have known was destroyed. It has since been rebuilt.
  6. Carpenter Family Record Book. The register of burials (reference no. 1083) shows that Sarah Hudd (49) of Brunswick Street was buried on September 12th 1830 and that the ceremony was performed by Mr Blunt.
  7. Plan B was a triangular burial ground bordered by Collingwood Street, the back of Brunswick Street and the old burial ground. A watchtower was located in the corner of the ground adjoining Brunswick Street and Collingwood Street.
  8. Plot 4S was located close to the old burial ground, directly in-line with the watch-tower, in the western side of the burial ground. The plot contained five graves.
