Phillips Questions

A few questions which we have pondered on can be found below. Please feel free to comment or to add your own questions.

 

1. Where is William Phillips (1846-unknown) when the 1871 census is taken and when did he die?

 

2. Where is Emily, the wife of William Phillips (1846-unknown), and her daughter Emma at the time the 1881 census is taken?

 

3. Is Hannah Webb (also recorded as Johanna Webb), who is witness to a numbers of Phillips events in the 1840s, actually related to the Phillips?

 

4. The witnesses to the marriage of James Phillips and Susannah Lucas were William Fry and Thomas Baxter. William Fry appears as a witness on a number of marriages in 1818 but Thomas Baxter only appears as a witness to this marriage. Who was Thomas Baxter? Is there any possibility that he is related (e.g. a brother-in-law)?

I don't know who Hannah Webb is but Ellen Victoria Phillips b1897(parents Charles John and Mary Ann Phillips) married a Thomas Webb in 1922.
