Baptisms 1778-1812

Water damage has rendered between a quarter to a third of most pages illegible, so this list may be incomplete.  If there is a separate series of Bishops Transcripts this may help clarify these entries and provide details of any illegible entries/missing entries from the Parish Registers.

The entry for Catharine is barely legible in the digital version, with a birth date which could be November (which fits with the chronological order of the page) and what appears to be a 6 as a second digit. The 2nd edition of the British Vital Records Index records the birth date as 16th November 1808 and the date of baptism as 16th December 1808 (although it also erroneously records the birth parish as Frindsbury rather than Dartford).

George's date of baptism is recorded as 5th November 1809 in the IGI.

The International Genealogical Index (IGI) has indexed baptisms in Dartford from 1561-1812 (Batch Number C036541) and lists 31 Miller baptism in this period. According to this source there are no Miller baptisms between 1747 and 1807, a gap of 60 years. Our check of the registers for the period 1778-1812 uncovered only 5 Miller baptisms in this period (the same number listed in the IGI).

Many pages in the registers prior to 1813 are partially illegible – some worse than others (for example the first half of 1804 is almost impossible to read). It is possible that a search against any surviving Bishop's Transcripts may help provide a more complete list.
